Descrizione

The vanilla orchid is a vine endemic to Mexico. The Aztecs used it to flavor a chocolate drink. The famous navigator Hernan Cortes was the first to discover and bring back Vanilla plant to Europe. But it was only on the middle of the 19th century that Vanilla was cultivated, thanks to Edmond Albius, a slave who lived in the french Reunion Island, near Madagascar, who discovered the manual pollination of the Vanilla flower. The 'Bourbon' from Reunion Island is known as the most intensive and balanced Vanilla over the world and Madagascar the first producer.
